My experience with Value Cabs has varied widely over the years, and using them in Belfast City Centre is usually fine. However, lately I am increasingly using Value Cabs to get to and from Belfast International Airport, and find the drivers to be unprofessional and greedy.

I get that there is a surcharge for the drop off at the airport, but exactly how much each driver charges seems to vary widely between £3 and £7 depending on the drivers' mood. Furthermore, most drivers refuse to add the surcharge to the receipt. At the end of the day, I don't even care that much about the surcharge, but without it being listed on the receipt, I cannot claim it back from the company on expenses. Flying about 10 times per month at the moment, this rapidly adds up to a large amount of money I have to pay out of my own pocket.

How does that work?

Husband and I took part in the relay at the Belfast Marathon at the weekend. Stayed at Stormont Hotel the night before, as it was close to my starting point. Booked Value Cabs to take my husband to his bus 5+ miles away, which would then take him on to his starting point. I contacted lots of taxi services in Belfast and Value Cabs were the only ones willing to do the run. With the road closures in place for the marathon, it wasn't an easy run. Driver was parked as close to our hotel as he could get, waiting for my husband and got him there in good time. He managed the road closures very well. Big thanks to the driver (sorry, didn't get your name) and to Jenna who handled the booking.

Took one of their cabs from Belfast city to the city airport early morning. The booking was using their app. The taxi came on time, but when I reached the airport, he asked whether I will pay by card or cash, which was a bit confusing as I had already entered my credit card details on the app. Nevertheless, I paid using my debit card using the driver's card reader in the car. After a day it turns out I was also charged on my credit card by their app. Simply speaking, I was DOUBLE CHARGED. This is either cheating knowingly we are not from the area or incompetence. Either way, it was a bad experience.

Booked a taxi last Sunday night to Belfast City airport on Monday morning at 7.50am. At 7.40 I got a message to say my driver was unavailable! A few mins later a new driver was announced on the app only to then also disappear & I was left with a “still trying to find a driver” on the app at 8.00. When I arrived at the airport after begging a friend to be late for work & drive me I was nearly run over by a Value cab driver on the walkway ramp & there were loads of their cabs there picking up people coming out of the airport. Bookings TO the airport should be a priority… #stressful #unreliable

Tried booking after a long hard day of work, twice. Rude or incompetent!

I had booked a taxi to take me to the Air Coach in Belfast and had built in 45 minutes to allow for delays. The Value Cab did not arrive on schedule. We realised after an hour that we had missed our coach. We had to drive to Dublin so as not to miss our flight. Lost two return bus fares and had to pay £240 to park the car. More recently I complained about being charged twice. Paid cash and was also charged on the app. The company took the side of the driver who claimed I didn’t pay him. It is hard to avoid this company as it holds a dominant position in Greater Belfast.

Booked a lift to the airport with 24 hours notice. Car did not arrive, not even dispatched. Very stressful.

I got a taxi home with Bobaka on St Patrick’s night. He was the loveliest man, and he was full of many stories and had us laughing the whole way home. Made our night❤️

Shite! Very shite!

I am a long time customer and I’m usually very happy with the service, but totally displeased with my experience on Saturday afternoon last. I arrived at Belfast City airport off the London BA flight at approximately 12.50 and got a taxi quite quickly. The driver told me immediately that there was a charge of £4. I believe it should be £3 but didn’t argue thinking perhaps it increased at the weekend. He then found it hard to exit the barrier and became very frustrated. Eventually when a member of staff came we got out.I was asked the same question by him several times. I was going to Glengormley and usually drivers take the Whitewell Road bus this one went a roundabout route by Sandyknowes. My fare on Thursday morning going to the airport was £22. Saturday’s was £30 which is excessive. Do Value Cabs screen their drivers? Unfortunately I didn’t get the driver’s number but it must be recorded at the airport.

Shocking service this morning exited 30 minutes for a taxi when they called me I had already arrived at train station I walked it from the archers , now same thing waiting for a taxi no word yet 20 minutes what a service used to use them every I think I will give them a miss

Taxi booked to get connection to airport.Did not arrive,highly stressful as had to make alternative arrangements.This is the second time we had this experience..surely if booked well in advance they should prioritise.Totally unreliable.Cannot contact or speak to anyone.Would not recommend .Avoid

Driver 101- took myself and my mum from Larne to ballymena today - firstly he was the most welcoming driver when we first approached the car and he instantly offered some wipes to my mum when she got a bit of dust in her hand from the lower booth door / secondly inside the car was extremely tidy and was very comfortable to be seated in / thirdly the whole journey was overall amazing - he was so talkative and friendly with us - and he even sang along to the radio with us - both myself and my mum felt extremely comfortable and safe with driver 101 / such a respectful/ kind / welcoming driver - made us feel highly valued and comfortable today and we can happily say he made our day 100 times better - he even thanked us for being such pleasant customers when we arrived at our destination - 100% would love to have this driver again in the future - he is amazing and would highly recommend to anyone !!

Hard to believe one of belfast largest taxi companys don't offer seven seater service on a Tuesday at 9pm, our family would have waited for this service, unfortunately it wasn't offered!!

Booked a cab to and from an event. Taxi going to event was superb, however, return cab didn't send location, didn't call my mobile( like 1st driver did), and had the brass balls to pick up a fare right in front of us when we eventually found him. Car reg is MC12CAW. Denied all knowledge of pick up even when shown text message. Would not recommend .

Driver 101 went above & beyond to get home through snow and bad roads.
Could have been stuck in a hotel instead of home by the fire …what a difference he made to my arrival home after months away …!

Absolutely shocking services. They accept and reject your booking at least 15 times and youll still not get a taxi. Spoke to the man on the desk, told me they are self employed so they can do that but let’s also bare in mind that they are a reflection of your company and it’s giving incompetent. You need to give your heads a wobble and sort your service issues out.

I had booked a taxi with this company to collect us at the airport in two weeks time. I checked with the company in advance on the same evening they were to collect us and they confirmed that someone would be waiting for us. When we arrived at the airport there was no taxi and they said they had no drivers free to collect us. We will never use this company again.

Text through to me that driver arrived - 6/7 minutes later driver pulled up (24 minutes late with traffic. (Traffic was bad but clearly he activated the command earlier. ) Car reg and details about his car on my text, got in, he confirmed drop off and then told me wasn't my taxi. I tried to show message, not interested and didn't even look, basically told me to get out. No apology just ignorant, I asked him to check with depot, he told me to go check, asked him is name, he told me none of my business.
