ACES Eye Clinic Avis 

Referred by my regular optician to check suspected early signs of glaucoma, I was given a very thorough examination of all aspects of eye health earlier in the year which revealed no serious concerns. Six months on I have had a follow-up appointment to monitor the situation. It's re-assuring to have this care available and I rate 5 star satisfaction for the clinic, its staff and the diagnostic procedures.

The experience I had at the Clinic was second to non. I was so pleased that Aces could perform surgery on both my eyes within a ten day period. The Surgeon and all the staff were very friendly, helpful and obliging. My husband had the same procedure 5 years ago and he had the same opinion as my self. I would wholly recommend Aces to any one as the team worked brilliant together.

The surgery was unable to go ahead because they said the patient couldn't safely get on the bed, why wasn't this assessed or flagged at the pre-op appointment. Waited for around 3 hours by which time the patient couldn't easily move from her wheelchair. Now been booked in at a clinic with a step!!! and given an early appointment so there should be less delays! Perhaps they should have done this first and save us all time and money.

I was seen very quickly I did 4 tests straight after one another the staff member was very friendly. It was a nice relaxed atmosphere in the waiting room. The doctor was lovely when she saw me very friendly and helped me feel relaxed during my eye exams.

An incredibly well looked after clinic that is clean and well presented. All staff are exceptional in their care towards patients, friendliness and knowledge of their jobs.

However! The receptionist let's them all down, hence my 4 stars. She couldn't be anymore unwelcoming and obtuse if she tried, I'm sure. Every time we have visited she has been the same, with a second member of Admin staff having to come and apologise and resolve the issue that she appears to have created. Its more noticeable because of how lovely everyone else is. For someone that is there to greet all patients on arrival, you couldnt have a more unwelcoming member of staff.

I was very apprehensive before the visit, but the staff put me at ease straight away. The doctor I saw at the end of all the tests was extremely kind and reassuring.

I went to the Wisbech eye clinic feeling extremely nervous and anxious. However I was soon put at ease by the nurses who assured me everything would be ok. On having the cataract procedure I was completely amazed and could not believe how quick and pain free the procedure was. Absolutely fantastic and could not be happier. I am now looking forward to having my other eye done and regaining my sight back

I attended the Wisbech Aces Clinic for my second cataract operation. Again, the staff were all exemplary in every way, having taken very good care of me. Unfortunately, the surgeon was my only bugbear this time, as he never communicated with me during the surgery, explaining what he was doing. This time, the procedure was very uncomfortable and a bit painful, especially without any assurance from the surgeon. At the end of the procedure, the surgeon literally ripped off the blue sheet, which felt like he was ripping off a plaster from my face. My experience with the previous surgeon had been absolutely excellent, the complete opposite to this time. I now feel mighty glad that this was my last cataract surgery…

Kind and helpful staff. Skilled surgeon. A week after surgery I am doing fine.
Clients should be warned about accessibility problems at the Cambridge clinic. Vehicles can't reach the clinic. Clients should be advised that the nearest drop-off point is Honest Burgers, 1-6 Corn Exchange CB2 3QF. That's a very short walk away but the driver can't park there. We arrived by taxi.
Surgery takes place on the first floor, where there is no toilet. To use the lift, you have to ask a staff member to accompany you.

Really profesional from start to finish go that extra mile to keep you informed in all areas cant praise them enough

I attended the Fakenham Clinic on Monday and the whole experience from start to finish was as you would hope for. The staff were professional, there was a calming atmosphere and all went smoothly. In the preparation room both nurses constantly sterilized there hands after dealing with patients, paperwork etc I did compliment them on this. It is clear to me that ACES does things right.

So much care and dedication from every member of staff an excellent experience which could so easily have been quite frightening considering it was my eyes they were dealing with

Quality service

I had an operation done which went well and was scheduled for a telephone appointmen one week later which never happened. I phoned to ask why I wasnt contacted to whicg the lady i spoke to said there is a note that they tried to call me during the appointed time which is untrue. I had the phone clear for the appointment and would have had a text message from my phone provided if there was a attempt to call me. I then asked her to ensure an appointment that can be kept is arranged.

I waited for another week and repeated a call to the clinic having not heard anything back and was told the same thing that an appointment is being arranged.

This has taken the shine off the procedure which went relatively well and I am really disappointed at this.

I think the clinic opened too early with staff not trained.
My eye pressure test was a puff of air known not to be very accurate. The Field test (glasses on) started while I was looking at a staff member saying nothing is sharp. There were 2 people in the room while the field test was going on one was training the other Iwas ignored and distracted by the converstions going on
The Eye chart test was board of 9 letters, repeated to me more than half a dozen times, I could memorise them. There was one on a smaller card saw that 3/4 times I obviously kept getting a letter wrong they kept going till I "guessed" the right letter and box ticked, move on. I asked what qualifications any of them had "none" I was told. Given that and that 2 members of staff (out of 4) plus a manager seemed to be new that day I would suggest a week of training may help but given the fundamental cost cutting set up I doubt it.

I was referred by my optician to the NHS in Peterborough who in turn referred me to ACES. I had suspected Glaucoma and a shadow (dark line) at the back of the eye. I had poor vision in one eye that optical test lenses could not correct

The waiting room seats were full but I was seen quickly enough. It’s like a conveyor belt, in and out of several rooms with varied equipment. You’re not alone in the room, the first one had 5 of us in a line.

The tests were complete in 45 minutes and I was told a specialist would call me with a phone appointment. That call arrived the following day and I was told you don’t have Glaucoma. I asked what my problem was and what about the black line.

The specialist said let me look at your notes (I can’t believe he never looked at them before calling) he said, I don’t know, we’re just checking for Glaucoma go back and ask your optician.

They’re just a money making operation to reduce NHS waiting lists and unless you have something pretty straightforward and basic they’re under qualified.

Welcoming, friendly staff. Clinic on time even though short staffed. All procedures were fully explained.
