We also have a secure, DEFRA compliant database, where we store pet owner details. If an animal is lost or stolen, chips are scanned and microchip databases are contacted to reunite the pet. Frustrating
I bred a litter of 4 puppies and I had them all microchipped before any left for their new homes as I am required by law to do so. I paid for the microchips myself and all 4 were registered to me. When 2 of the puppies left for their new homes I gave the owners their microchip numbers and instructions on how to change the details into their own name. All good so far … but I decided to keep 2. Bearing in mind that I bred the litter and ALL the puppies were registered to me in the first instance, I thought job done.
But I got a call, “you need to register your puppies” and it costs £24 to do so, but breeders get 1 free registration from a litter”. I still cannot understand this. My puppies were/are registered to me already.
After a lot of discussion, I thought I’d better do what they ask for the sake of the pups. But then I could not do it on the website. When I logged in, there was no option to register a microchip number, I was told “you are a breeder” and was given the breeder dashboard with all my puppies details.
So I had to contact Animal Microchips. They did something on my account that allowed me to “switch” from breeder to owner so that I could register my pups. But bearing in mind that one should have been a free registration, I was asked to pay for both!! another email to try and sort this out. And guess what? …..please tell us the number, colour of the dog, date of birth, male or female. seriously!!! ITS ALL THERE ALREADY.
Huge frustration, I don’t think the website interface has been thought out and communication regarding purchase of chips for puppies and registration requirements is non existent.

COMPLETE INCOMPETENCE AVOID…
Bought a pug and when I tried to register her in our name found out her number is allocated to a different dog
I've emailed numerous times
Lost track of the calls I've made....
Was told to go to my vet get her scanned and send a picture of dog and scanner to prove ownership
Did this sent email with pictures still no reply
Phoned again was told the number was put in incorrectly the last 2 digits were reversed
I must now wait while they contact the other dogs owner wait for that owner to go to their vet and get photos etc
Currently been 5 days and still waiting.......
AND IN THE MEANTIME NEITHER DOG HAS THE CORRECT DETAILS ON FILE SHOULD THEY GET LOST
This is beyond ridiculous
AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!!
Update Every call you've made had been returned every email requested sent The delay in rectifying this matter has not been from my side
This all came about by chip numbers being incorrectly typed into the system Just wonder how many dogs are walking around with incorrect details?????

I recently bought a puppy who was…
I recently bought a puppy who was supposed to be microchipped.
I was given an animal tracker barcode and told the vaccination details were electronically attached to this.
My new dog had not been vaccinated, chipped or vet checked and the breeder also lied about the KC registration.
I even registered the chip number costing £24.00 without knowing my dog did not have a chip.
I felt this was fraud. Animal Tracker would not give me the identity of the microchipper who was allocated the chip number despite my having a print out with the barcode.
Animal Tracker used GDPR as their excuse for withholding this information.
While obviously I am not accusing Animal Trackr of complicity in the fraud I am disgusted that they would not disclose the identity of the person concerned who was complicit.
I have now obtained s refund of the £24.00 that I paid to Animal Tracker but am still unhappy that they would prefer to protect the identity of the person who issues animal chip numbers without chipping the animal as this is not only dishonest but can put the animal at risk.

Please use another company
Overpriced trying to change the address over after buying a puppy. It's ridiculous amount and hassle, please shop elsewhere thats cheaper and more helpful. Take your money but then you have to keep chasing it up!

Irresponsible company, will transfer the chip to thieves, even then told not to!!!!
Absolutely irresponsible company.
I had my dog stolen, the thrives tried to change the microchip. I phoned and emailed them not to do it and this bag of crap transfered her.
Useless company do not care at all. Stay away use a different company.

SCAMMING TERRIBLE COMPANY AVOID!
Terrible experience! AVOID at all costs!
I placed an order 9 days ago for the tap and track, however did not receive a confirmation email or any update on my order despite the money being taken from my account. Seems like a scam.
I have emailed numerous times and have been been made false promises of when I would receive my order.
In addition to this the website made duplicate accounts for my one pet. I called up to modify my pet details and was told that they would remove the duplicate accounts by doing so they sent me three emails that they are sorry for my deceased pet!
Disgusting customer service, took my money and still haven’t received my item AVOID THIS SCAMMING COMPANY!

Very helpful and charming young lady dealt with my request to change details on my dogs microchip registration from its previous owner. It would have been a five star revue but for the request to have the confirmation to be done by a paper method instead of electronically. There are still many elderly who prefer for this method to be used and not be told I am sorry but we are a paperless company. Apart from that an exemplary operation

Website was easy to use but the pricing…
Website was easy to use but the pricing for this service is way overpriced. As a breeder used to using mypet to chip and register puppies with no transfer cost to new owners I feel this company is ripping new puppy owners off with the £24 transfer fee. Dearer than Petlog and that's saying something!

Our fee is in place to cover the following -
1. Customer Support: Providing reliable customer support services, including responding to enquiries, addressing issues, and assisting with lost or stolen pets, incurs operational costs.
2. 24/7 Helpline Services: Operating a round-the-clock helpline is critical to the microchip database's commitment to reuniting pets with their keepers. Providing continuous support for lost or found pets requires staffing, infrastructure, and resources to maintain an efficient and responsive helpline.
3. Data Security: Protecting pet keepers' information is crucial. Investing in robust cybersecurity measures and regular updates to safeguard the database from potential breaches is an expensive but necessary aspect of maintaining a DEFRA-compliant system.

I called to request changing details on…
I called to request changing details on a microchip having acquired a puppy who had already been registered. A call had to be made to the previous owner for verification but this was done straight away and within minutes I was recalled and registered. Excellent service
