Animal Microchips is the leading provider of microchips in the UK. We supply chips to implanters, vets and owners. Our chips are high quality, ensuring you always have the tools to do your job. We also have a secure, DEFRA compliant database, where we store pet owner details. If an animal is lost or stolen, chips are scanned and microchip databases are contacted to reunite the pet. Breeders will chip an animal but this is not registering your pet. It is a legal requirement to keep your details up to date as a pet owner.

Terrible experience
Terrible experience. The breeder told me to use this database so I signed up and paid £24, the payment was loading for hours and nothing happened. Eventually £24 came out of my account but no confirmation of registration. I emailed customer service to confirm my payment and asked for confirmation my puppy has been registered nearly 2 weeks ago, still no confirmation despite chasing multiple times. Not sure why I am paying £24 for customer service if I’m not receiving any. I would like a refund so I can register my dog with a free service, but no reply at all.
The worst part is I can be fined for not having my pet registered, yet I’m doing everything I possibly can and this company is no help! Along with the worry that if anything happened to my puppy during these weeks there would be no way for him to find his way back to us!!

As the breeder of the litter, the £100 you paid was to an implanter to microchip the puppies. That fee goes to the implanter as a cost for their service.
When you then sell the puppies on to the keepers, the keepers pay a registration fee to the microchip database. This fee is in place to cover the following -
1. Customer Support: Providing reliable customer support services, including responding to enquiries, addressing issues, and assisting with lost or stolen pets, incurs operational costs.
2. 24/7 Helpline Services: Operating a round-the-clock helpline is critical to the microchip database's commitment to reuniting pets with their keepers. Providing continuous support for lost or found pets requires staffing, infrastructure, and resources to maintain an efficient and responsive helpline.
3. Data Security: Protecting pet keepers' information is crucial. Investing in robust cybersecurity measures and regular updates to safeguard the database from potential breaches is an expensive but necessary aspect of maintaining a DEFRA-compliant system.
These are just the top 3 reasons we charge pet keepers a fee to register.
By charging a fee for pet registration, a DEFRA-compliant microchip database can ensure sustainable and high-quality services for pet owners and contribute to the responsible management of pet identification and keepership records.

I have been trying to transfer my details to another database for over 2 months. After repeated phone calls & emails & broken promises this still hasn’t happened.
Therefore how can i be sure mine & my pets details are actually up to date as promised?
They have a closed database so it’s impossible to check & really difficult for charities & vets to get access to relevant information if your pet is taken in.
avoid this company at all costs.

Microchip change .…
I needed to change my new dog's microchip from her old owner to my name and address . I rang Animalmicrochips and spoke with a very charming and helpful young lady who opened a account for me and registered my dog to her microchip, so now i can feel secure in the knowledge that should she get lost she can be returned to me via her microchip . A very big thank-you to the young lady .
