Called into Bennett's butchers on Wednesday September 2nd 2026 and bought some of their rump steak at 3 pieces for £20.When I got home I was preparing it for the freezer. The first piece looked good. Second piece was a bit sinewy. The third piece was absolutely disgusting I would say was more rump than rump steak as it was all fat with a little piece of meat attached. This was not a bargain as the meat was not up to scratch. Won't be shopping there again.

The Christmas hamper was good.
I think we should have been told that the salmon cut was a New Zealand import, and the pork joint wasn’t as per the picture
I especially liked the chuck mince that i bought as a separate item.

2 x 1kg rump steak £40 ..tough when cooked medium rare and rested. i contacted bennets 3 times by email, no-response, replacement or refund. I picked the wrong delivery date but no-response to the email to change the delivery date. give them a miss.

The last two orders I’ve made have had issues - first one they just forgot to send part of it, and in this one they mis-sold a cut of meat as one thing when it was clearly something else entirely. And when I emailed to ask for the issues to be looked at, I got no response until I’d chased up multiple times. It’s cheap yes, but it’s not worth the hassle.

After tough lamb half legs, I then tried the ham hocks and they were good. Today I will try the very thin, very dark lamb chops and hope they are okay.

Today 23 August, I cooked about 8-10 very small lamb chops. Upon receipt I put them in the freezer. I noticed they looked bloody, scrawny and dark in colour. Today I prepared them. Two thirds of the weight was in fat and bone. The rest was very, very tough. I spent £62 + overall and the only edible thing was ham hock. As an 88 year old pensioner it is a disgrace. I will NEVER purchase from Bennetts again. I can’t understand why there are good reports and I have been so unlucky.
