Very disappointing aftercare from David…

Very disappointing aftercare from David Clulow (Kingston branch).

I purchased Oakley Meta glasses in October 2025, expecting a high standard of service given the reputation and the cost. Within a few months, the glasses developed a clear structural fault. Oakley have already approved a full replacement under warranty (Ref: 11225793), so the issue itself is not in dispute.

What has been frustrating is the level of aftercare. Despite the glasses being with the store, I have been repeatedly asked to manage the process myself — including contacting the manufacturer, completing forms, and handling logistics that should reasonably be managed by the retailer.

My in-store experience was also poor. The staff member I dealt with was dismissive, did not properly assess the issue, and showed little interest in helping resolve the problem. This only added to an already frustrating situation.

I chose David Clulow specifically because of its reputation as a premium provider, and I have made multiple purchases with them. Unfortunately, the service I have received falls well below expectations. At this level, customers expect efficient, proactive support — not to be passed back and forth.

To make matters worse, these are prescription glasses that I rely on for my work as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine, and the delays have had a real impact.

Overall, a disappointing experience. I hope the company reviews its aftercare processes, as this is not the level of service one would expect from a high-end provider

Great customer engagement and care

Kensington High Street

Kensington High Street, London. Very quick and professional. I went there with my eye care voucher provided by my work. However, the frames available for free on the voucher were all too small for my head. I am a tall man (not overweight) and had to choose a pair of frames that don’t fit me. When I say none of the frames fit me I really mean it.

The range of frames included within the voucher scheme is determined by the external provider, and unfortunately, we do not have control over the styles or sizing included in that selection. We do appreciate that fit is extremely important, and we’re sorry that the available options did not meet your needs on this occasion.

That said, we do offer a wider selection of frames in-store, and as a goodwill gesture, we provide a 15% discount on any frames outside of the voucher range. Our team would be more than happy to help you find a style that fits comfortably and suits you well.

Amazing team at Loughton

This is my 4th pair of glasses from the Loughton store. I used to visit Tom Davies in Sloane Square previously having tried local opticians I found they couldn’t match previous experience I had. After passing by the Loughton store for a quick chat I was amazed by the knowledge of the team and friendly service I received. Very professional and a special mention for the boss Androulla and her amazing team Waheeda and Ramona (Charlie’s Essex Angels)

James is the best optician I’ve ever…

James is the best optician I’ve ever been to. He’s incredibly thorough and has all the up to date technology to investigate the eyes beyond just an eye test.

Paulina is also great and so helpful.

Battersea consultant Gem and the…

Battersea consultant Gem and the accompanying optician were faultless during my visit. I was given as much time as I needed to try plenty of new styles. Gem offered thoughtful recommendations that genuinely suited me. She was knowledgeable about current trends and timeless styles. My preferences were taken into account, and the whole experience felt truly personal and unhurried. She also explained the advances in transitional lens technology, demonstrating the benefits in a way that completely put my mind at ease. Selecting new frames can feel like a commitment and one I was wary of getting wrong (as I've done before), so the assistance was much appreciated. Joining the Style Service meant I could capitalise on 30% reduction when buying two pairs and take home a pair of complimentary sunglasses. Overall, it might be more costly than my previous opticians, but the attention to detail was excellent, and I'm hoping the finished glasses reflect the more premium in-store experience.

Great care was taken over my complex…

Great care was taken over my complex eye test to ensure that the prescription was absolutely right. Lots of help choosing the frames, which were a tad expensive but not more than I expected. Really pleased with them so far

Nothing is ever to much for them.
