Debt recovery for £21, WOW
I was contacted out of the blue regarding an unpaid final O2 bill of £21, which I had completely forgotten about. While I accept that the missed payment was my mistake, referring such a small amount to a debt recovery company seems excessive.
The reason I was unaware of the issue is that O2 supplied an old address rather than the address linked to my account, so I never received any letters regarding the forgotten outstanding balance.
What I found particularly frustrating was that the agent could not tell me whether this had impacted my credit rating. As the company had been instructed to recover the debt, I would have expected them to have access to that information or at least be able to point me in the right direction. I have since contacted O2 and am awaiting clarification, but its been a while and still no answer.
To be fair, the call handler was courteous and professional throughout, and I have no complaints about how the call was managed.
Still, I cannot help but question whether the administrative and postage costs involved in recovering a £21 debt were worthwhile. If O2 had of called me, I would of paid avoiding all this busywork.

Moorcroft keep ringing me most mornings and its never an actual person, always an automated service looking for someone with a different name to me, today I received a text message looking for the same name, I've followed the link in the text message no way to contact to let them know they have the wrong number, I have had my phone number for nearly 30 years so not sure how you got it linked to this other person, there is a phone number on the website, but why should I? If you look their phone number up on 'who called me' others say the same keep ringing looking for somebody else. do better!! sloppy service

Extremely slow and unhelpful response online
Trying to talk to company online about an unused phone number that O2 refused to cancel and eventually I had to cancel the direct debit. Have been on chat for over 20 minutes and the person is delaying responding by asking for personal details that they are already aware of every few minutes.

The Moorcroft agents that I have dealt with have been very helpful, friendly, respectful and non judgemental. In all honesty I'd rather deal with Moorcroft agents than the company in question.

Bizarre experience
Bizarre experience. They have been pursuing me for an alleged debt for 02 which has in fact been paid. I have informed them of this numerous times,and yet it seems they are incapable of just communicating with 02 to confirm this. I just received £50 compensation from 02 for all the hassle they caused me with this fake claim, and yet Moorcroft do not seem to get the message. I have told them they have until 30/07/2026 to sort this out, and pay me compensation or I will take them to the small claims court. To any person from Moorcroft who reads this, do not post some daft message asking me to contact your customer service/ complaints department..because I already have, and so far ,it has gone nowhere

i was dealt with by a very nice preofffesional person, there were no trhreats or aggressive language or promises that the baliff would be called, i have agreed a paymnt pln that will be paid by DD, as i clear other debts'then i will increase the amount that i pay to morecroft.

Poor practices
They had all of the working week to call if anything was owed.
The first I hear is a call on a Saturday. I ask why they’re calling for the first time on a weekend.
They say “we’re open on Saturday”! Pathetic company, just because they can’t get their work done in a working week, they try to ruin it for the rest!

This is a debt recovery company that…
This is a debt recovery company that completely ignores clear customer wishes. I have explicitly told them I do not want any direct calls or messages – the only way I am comfortable communicating is through their secure website portal.
Now I can’t even log into their site, so I’ve sent multiple emails asking them to reset my account access so I can sort this properly. They have completely ignored every single request. Instead of helping me use the channel I’m okay with, they just keep contacting me the way I’ve already said I don’t want.
You have the nerve to expect me to engage, let alone make any kind of payment, when you won’t even fix a basic login issue so I can access my own account? How am I supposed to discuss or resolve anything when you lock me out of your own system and ignore my pleas for help? It is completely ridiculous and hypocritical.
It’s appalling practice. They hound you for contact and money but won’t do the bare minimum to let you communicate properly. If you need to deal with a debt recovery firm, avoid MDR Recovery entirely – they do not listen, they do not help, and they do not deserve your cooperation.
