Zenith Complaints Department corrected earlier customer service mistakes

Since submitting my earlier review on Zenith policy regarding payment of cancellation fee, I was contacted by Customer Complaints Department, who have corrected earlier mistakes by their Customer Service staff and apologised for any inconvenience. Fee charged will now be refunded together with an amount for unused insurance cover period.

I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with the arrangement fee you have been charged after your policy automatically renewed.

When you take out a policy—whether online or over the phone—we let you know that it includes automatic renewal. This is designed to ensure your vehicle stays insured, even if the renewal date slips your mind, as continuous insurance is a legal requirement.

You can opt out of automatic renewal at any time via your online account or by reviewing your policy documents. If you choose to opt out, your policy will simply end on the renewal date without needing to contact us.

About three weeks before your renewal, we’ll send an email with your new premium and confirmation of your renewal status. If that email isn’t received, we’ll follow up with a reminder a week later. If emails aren’t successful, we’ll send a paper copy of your renewal invite by post.

If you email your policy details to us at social@zenithinsurance-bisl.co.uk we can look in to this further for you.

Do not use if you want to change car mid-term…

Went to change my car mid-term on the portal from a F Type Jaguar to a Mercedes C300 (so a more common car with less power). Could not do on the hub so called them. Was told they don’t insure this car! So I had to pay a cancellation fee (it wasn’t me that cancelled, it was them). Also have lost a years NCB as the policy finished mid-term. Nothing else was changed, only changing cars. Found insurance with Allianz right away at a lower cost than my Zenith policy. What a cob. AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU CHANGE YOUR CAR MID-TERM. I will be informing all the car clubs I am a member of to ensure others don’t use this company!

Update: They called me today to explain they could not insure the Mercedes as their underwriters don’t insure this vehicle. However they agreed to refund me the cancellation charge as a goodwill gesture. The lady on the phone was very good. I will update again when I receive the refund etc.

2nd Update: Refunds duly received as expected.

We understand how frustrating it can be when expectations aren’t met, especially when it comes to something as important as your insurance cover. While we aim to accommodate vehicle changes where possible, there are occasions where certain makes and models fall outside of our underwriting criteria. These decisions are based on a number of factors, including risk profiling and insurer guidelines.

Van insurance

I had my renewal for my insurance come through from my previous insurance company. I thought i would try comparison sites and zenith were not the cheapest but offered better cover and extras. I decided to give them a go it was easy to follow on there site and saved me over £100

Worst company i've ever dealt with

Worst company i've ever dealt with. Portal is a disaster. Needed to cancel after 4 months cover and paying premiums monthly. charged for future months cover + cancellation fee of £45 together with an intermediary charge of £35. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! A 35 minute phone call to obtain an invoice of charges and reluctantly they agreed although still waiting.
