Quick call

Marie was the lovely lady who handled my claiming issues. A quick email from her to IT as she knew what my issue was affecting the claim, then followed up with an email back to myself to alert me my portal was back up and running! Fab efficiency Marie. Thank you.

This is a fabulous medical service

This is a fabulous service, I have been with the BHSF for as long as I can remember. It takes the sting out of big Dentist an Optical costs plus if you are unfortunat to have heath issues they they are there to help with private consultancy plus finacial support.

Requesting a claim form.

I required help with getting a claim form and my customer number details. Neil and others advised me on how to do this so I am now able to send off my dental claim as of today.
The service was efficient and timely as required.

Avoid if you can

Only been using for 6 months - I have to say they make it as difficult to claim as possible. Outdated online system, from the stoneage. Awful customer service and the most frustrating part is they take SOOOOOOO long to process your claims. I have needed ongoing treatment for something and I am on my 3rd appointment in 3 weeks and they still haven't processed my first claim.

I get this through my employeer but if you have any say in it avoid this company. There is a reason you haven't heard of them and why they are cheaper than anyone else. They make it difficult and obtrusiveto claim, menaning people are beaten down and can't be bothered.

To respond to the response - there was an issue with the account from my Employer's side of things, which only became apparent when I contacted the BHSF Customer Service and was met with an unhelpful "talk to your HR department, your policy is on hold". I stand by everything else and the process time is still far too long and far too "letter of the law". I have used Health Insurance from various companies over the last 2 decades and this is by far the worst. If I had a choice I would not use them. To put in context I have never had a refused or rejected claim in 20 years. Within 6 months I have had 6 rejected claims. There is a reason they are cheap - they will find any way not to pay your claim.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and we’re very sorry to hear of your difficulties.

BHSF are currently in the middle of a significant upgrade to our background systems, with a brand new tailor-made Online Portal for our policyholders to use. While the previous system was functional and worked exactly as it meant to (simple/ quick/ easy-to-use), it had reached its technical limits. So, while not live for everyone yet, the new system will be in the future, so this will hopefully address your concerns with our current portal. If you’re struggling with the current Online Portal though, please get in touch with our Helpdesk where we’ll be happy to help.

In respect of your claims, 3 weeks sounds excessive. I can therefore only assume there is something which is delaying these beyond our usual 2 working day response timeframe. It’s possible that your premiums aren’t paid up-to-date, or that the information we’ve received is incorrect/ insufficient and we’re waiting on further information to process these. Either way, I’d suggest you contact our Helpdesk, who should be able to assist.

Policy tracking and update

Contacted BHSF over a policy I had over many years and was trying to trace the documentation. emailed the help desk for help with this and could not have been happier with the service. Thanks to Neil Ryder for the assistance with my queries and I now have a fully updated documentation.

Great Customer Service

Neil from Customer Service was very helpful in regards to explaining different upgrade options. I regularly claim for therapies on my BHSF policy and claims are always handled swiftly and efficiently. Would recommend.

My first claim was easy to apply for and quickly processed.

I've just made my first claim which was processed swiftly. The form was very easy to complete and BHSF were specific in what I needed to obtain from the dentist to make my claim so I had everything handy.]

Absolutely no loyalty and poor ethos

I have been with BHSF for over 30 years. Well since I was a student nurse at 19 and I’m now 55.
A few years ago I changed NHS Trusts and as the new Trust didn’t use BHSF I continued as a private customer even though it was a lot more expensive. I was a VERY loyal customer, probably their perfect customer as I never really claimed in 30 years !
I then used the physio and the optical and dentist benefit a few times over the last couple of years - wow talk about stab in the back. My single person platinum premium went from £26 a month to £56!!!
I rang to discuss and was just advised that they had to make increases with everyone but this was like 115 % overnight !! The advisor said it was to be expected.
I challenged this as this hike was genuinely unreasonable and was basically told tough if you don’t like it leave.
However ….. this was the hurtful bit. After 30+ years loyalty … if I rejoined now as a brand new customer with a different surname and e mail it’s the pre 115 % price rise - so half the price and hundreds of pounds cheaper !!!

Unfortunately, premium increases are an inevitable part of life, which is why BHSF will only do this when we have no other choice. We only increase premiums when absolutely necessary, so while some increases may seem extreme, this is driven by the volume of claims & payments made for each level of cover on a specific policy/ product/ group.

If you’d like to explore lower/ cheaper levels of cover if the recent increase means this is no longer affordable for you, or potentially transfer to a different plan, please do get in touch and we’d be happy to assist as best we can.

On line claim error message .I was seeing a message saying I could…

I was seeing a message saying I could not make a dental claim. The first advisor I spoke with suggested trying again, which I did & still the same. I rang again & spoke with Manreece Grewal who was very helpful & said he would contact IT. I sent him an email showing the error message & the problem was resolved by the end of the day. My claim has already been processed by the next day.
